How to Easily Create a Search-Engine Friendly Navigation Menu For Your WebsiteOne of the most important aspect of a website is the navigation system. Having a good menu of navigation allows visitors to go through your site easily and efficiently. This is in terms, as few clicks of the mouse as humanly possible. The easiest way to view a menu or system of navigation is as a table of contents, in a textbook or manual. The more pages you have on your website, the more you have a need for a system to navigate it.
When you have a good navigation system, it allows you to fully maximize an internal linking setup. By the search engine having a better rank, it allows for more traffic and hits. This will all be guided by a great navigation system. Having your web pages ranked higher than your competitions, can be a direct
result of having multiple links to multiple sights within the same page. To accommodate this, a system of organization and navigation would be most recommended. To increase flow of visitors and hits on your web pages there is a few things to break down. What you will gain here is a way to increase your ranking on the web, as far as sites are concerned. By having a navigation system in place it allows for the multiple pages to be accessed at any time from a single site. This in turn will increase flow as word of mouth travels quickly. When people are viewing your page in HTML it is important for you to have SSI, or Server Side Includes. This is a basic and easy to use instruction. This executes very basic commands for the HTML format, and in turn makes it very easy to navigate through your site and its corresponding pages.
This is done prior to the information even reaching the viewer, as it is the server itself that controls this setup. Hence the name Server Side. This makes for a seamless merge of the directives and the HTML files. When your navigation system is set up properly, there is what's known as spiders, this is where the navigation system allows for the viewing of all the pages or links on your site to be viewed easily. If needed, a site map will allow for more flow of the spiders, hence having more pages viewed each time the page is hit. In essence this site map should be linked to your homepage, as it is a good tool to spread the rest of your pages around in the viewable segment of your site. This is the best method of having your pages indexed, as it allows the search engine spiders an opportunity to follow a set path. It must be noted, not all web servers allow or, even have SSI. It would be best for you to check prior to obtaining that server. This way you will be sure you can get what you want or need in that web server.
The first step in creating a navigation system is to create an HTML file for navigation. This is basically the route to your pages, and your menu template. You will need this file saved as a shtml extension. Then you must insert the HTML file into the navigation system. You will need to find a location where you feel the file will most benefit your site and place it there. Generally it is inserted to open upon the start up of the page. Finally you will need the files to upload on to your computer. You will need to make sure that the files are in proper order, this way you can be sure that the page opens properly. If this is all done properly, then the HTML navigation menu will in turn be taken over by and run through your SSI directive interface. This is an easy method of maintaining your navigation system. All you have to do is merely change the contents of the navigation file itself. This may seem like a daunting task at first, yet when you are used to it you will be blazing out so many pages and sites, it will be hard for it mot to be noticeable that you have become a very active and healthy web page informer for the net.
