Ten Ad Copy Tips you can take to the Bank!

They say that you never have a second chance at first impressions. You want to always make sure you are at your best when it comes to business. With online marketing the first thing people see is your ad copy. You want your first impression for that potential customer to be tip-top. If they are not dazzled by it, they can easily keep searching. The web is full of sites and you want yours to be the one people chose, not your competitors. There are ten copy tips that can help you succeed at the impression you are trying to give your customers.

1. Make sure you add some sub-headlines in your ad copy to grab the readers attention. Like a headline, these will guide your reader through the entire ad. You will have a better chance of keeping the customer interested in what you have opposed to getting bored and moving on. They are used similarly to
transitions and copy connecters to guide the reader to the next part of the ad.

2. Put question in the ad copy to engage the readers mind and make them want to read further to find out the answer. This will allow the customer to answer the questions for them in their heads and see if they really need what you are promoting. You want to use questions that make people want to buy. It is a natural response for people to automatically want to answer the questions and that will ultimately lead them to a purchase.

3. Be sure to high light key word in the ad copy to make them stand out to the reader. The keywords should keep reminding the reader why they are here in the first place. You could highlight them in many ways with color, underlines, bold font, and/or italics. Use repetition in your keywords to make people really feel what you are saying and want what you have to offer. For example you could write, These are super, super, super soft sheets.

4. Bullet or use indentations is your ad copy to draw the reader to the benefits to your product. Many people do not read the whole thing, so make your products benefits stand out. This will help to keep you from losing sales from all the skimmers. You can also indent or bullet your guarantee, postscripts, testimonials, and closing. This will keep them focused on the most important areas.

5. Use of variety of text sizes to keep the ad copy interesting to look at. Make sure your text is big enough for people to read easily and make keywords larger when you like. Your headline and major points should be larger than the body text so they will stand out.

6. Try to find a unique price for your item. You will probably have to experiment with prices to see which one pulls in the most orders. It should be of market value but cost effective for your customers. Make the price a strange amount like $14.57 or $36.78. This appears to the customer that there must be a specific reason for it. They might assume that you are giving them a wholesale price or deal.

7. You could add proof of results in your ad copy using testimonials, endorsements, and statistics. These should be truthful statements about the benefits of what you are selling. You dont want to go overboard either. Dont bog the ad copy down with all statistics and testimonies.

8. Make special offers in your ad copy to grab the readers attention. Most times it is easier to sell the offer than the product. Use discounts, free bonuses, or volume sales to grab the readers focus and make them want to buy. For example, you could say, "You'll get 2 bonuses when you order before July 25, 2006!" Or, "Buy one, get the second one half price if you act now.

9. Stay away from technical jargon as much as possible. You want the reader to know what you are talking about with out needing an encyclopedia. If the reading is too hard and not properly explained, the reader will move on and not buy. If you must use some technical terms in your ad copy, make sure you define then in an easy to read manner.

10. Offer people to sign up for freebies. Make sure the form they fill out is basic and not full of personal questions. All you will need is a name, address, and e-mail. This will make the potential customer more apt to sign up and you can send them updates on your product via e-mail or snail mail to keep them looking at what you have.
